Chilling CCTV footage has emerged showing what police have described as the attempted abduction of two young schoolgirls in Manchester.

According to the Manchester Evening News, a man aged between 40 and 50 approached two girls – aged 11 and 12 – in Moss Lane, Manchester, and ‘guided’ them away to a nearby park, on 5th June.

In the CCTV, the man is seen putting his arms around the girls and leading them away. Thankfully, the girls managed to get away, and their parents contacted the police immediately.

Police investigating the incident have released the footage in the hope of identifying the suspect, who is described as being ‘overweight’ and was wearing a white cap and pink long-sleeved shirt at the time of the attempted abduction.

While police are now patrolling the local area, an investigating detective has urged parents and children alike to be vigilant.

“We would encourage parents to speak with their children about the dangers of talking to strangers…We would ask children to never go off with anyone they do not know, get into a vehicle with a stranger, accept gifts off a stranger or wander off on their own,” said the rep.
