Mum-to-be, Melissa Mantor (31), was left horrified after she was asked to leave a gym because her pregnant belly was, "hanging out."

Melissa, from South Carolina in the US, said she was wearing the same attire she generally wore to the gym, but that this was the first time she had been visibly pregnant.

She was using the treadmill when a female employee of the gym approached her and said: "I'm going to have to ask you to leave, you are in violation of the dress code ... your belly's hanging out and I need to get it covered up."

Melissa said that the incident was very embarrassing for her: "I even had people comment on the situation, which was extremely embarrassing ... Being a pregnant woman getting kicked out of the gym for being dressed inappropriately - I am a mother and a modest person. I do not want to be told I dressed inappropriately,"

Melissa has now cancelled her membership with the gym in question due to their treatment of her.

To prove her point, Melissa took a photo of the gym gear she was wearing on the day.
