In 2013, Kimi Maxwell allowed photographer Nikki Fisher Holmes to share an incredible photo of her posing naked after battling breast cancer.

The mum had been diagnosed with cancer on her second pregnancy and had a double mastectomy in a bid to beat the illness.

Following her surgery, the incredibly brave woman posed for a naked photoshoot, and has helped to raise awareness of breast cancer in the process.

Standing with her biceps flexed in the black and white photo, Kimi has “I survived” written on her chest and an arrow pointing down to her bump where “So did I” is written.

Recalling the incredible moment, Nikki posted a throwback on her Facebook page in a bid to raise awareness of cancer once again: “That time I was a photographer and my brave client Kimi broke the internet!!! Please share the original post xx #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness.”

Talking to Daily Mail Australia, the photographer said that Kimi showed huge strength throughout the shoot.

"She faced her battle head on and I never heard her whinge and she just showed so much strength which showed through in the photos,"  she said.

"Kimi's goal was to raise awareness and she certainly succeeded in that with the photos being shared around the world, I was really proud of her and honoured to play a part in that."
