Cheese straws

Cheese straws
Delicious crisp, cheesy sticks ideal for dipping or simply on their own.
 

350g ready-rolled puff pastry

Four handfuls grated parmesan (or vegan alternative)

Handful flour, for dusting and rolling

Preheat the oven to 220°C / 425°F / Gas mark 7.

Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper and set aside.

Unroll a sheet of puff pastry, scatter over a couple of handfuls of grated parmesan cheese, then fold over in half.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out to 3mm in thickness (about a 2 euro coin.)

Cut into 1cm strips, then twist the strips 3-4 times.

Lay on the baking sheet, scatter over more cheese and bake for 12 minutes, or until golden.

Leave to cool, then serve or they will keep for 2 days in an airtight container.
