According to emerging reports, emergency services have been called to a minor road between Newton-on-Ouse and Tollerton - an area north of York - after a school bus became trapped in flood water.

It is understood that 30 passengers required the help of emergency crews this morning after the vehicle they were travelling in became submerged in water.

Commenting on this morning's incident, a spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue confirmed reports and explained that those at the scene have requested the assistance of water rescue teams in an effort to help with the evacuation.

It has been established that firefighters from Huntington, Acomb and Easingwold are assisting in the rescue, with services tweeting: "Fire crews have now assisted the occupants of the bus at Newton-on-Ouse on to another bus."

We're thinking of all those involved in this morning's incident.
