Not seeing family for long stretches of time is hard.
That’s why sailor Edward Essenburg is glad to finally be retiring from the military after two decades of service.
His last tour with the US Navy was a 7-month deployment, and there wasn’t a day during that period that he didn’t think about his wife Kimberly and their five daughters.
His girls had really missed him during his absence, so Edward decided to surprise them with his return.
He arranged it so that the girls thought they were having a normal girls’ day at a baseball game. But then, the girls were called on to take part in a ‘game’ and that’s when dad Edward walked out onto the pitch.
One daughter spots him first, runs over to him and leaps into his arms. Then the rest follow, and it’s the most heartwarming reunion we’ve seen in a while.
