As parents, we try to provide the best possible standard of life for our kids; and once they are happy and healthy, who is anyone else to judge?
This is the call of Kelly and Mike Bruning, the couple who have just been labelled as ‘the most selfish parents around’ by their neighbours in San Diego, California.
They took to their joint Facebook page to share a letter they recently received, criticising them for raising their children in a beachside apartment.
Posting a screenshot of the letter online, Kelly and Mike wrote: “Sometimes harassment comes in the simple forms.”
The letter itself read: “It’s important that you know that you guys are about the most selfish parents around. Because you like the beach, your boys are trapped in a tiny, one-bedroom upstairs apartment.”
So, what exactly is wrong with Kelly and Mike’s setup?
The author continued: “Kids need a yard to play in. A swing set, or trike to ride when they want to, not just when it’s convenient for you. I don’t know this, but I doubt that either of you had to grow up under these conditions. SHAME ON YOU.”
Clearly, Kelly and Mike were horrified – but not as disgusted as their friends on the social media platform.
“Who…appointed the letter writer God and decided you were doing an inferior job at parenting? I’m guessing all those kids who shared a room or a bed with others had rotten childhoods,” wrote one Facebook user.
Others, meanwhile, branded the letter’s author a ‘jerk’ and praised the Brunings for raising their little ones in such idyllic surroundings.
