Horrific CCTV footage released from a hospital in Chile shows a paramedic attacking a pregnant nurse and kicking her in the stomach.
The disturbing video caused outrage when it circulated online. The attack occurred in a hospital in the city of Valparaiso and both the nurse and paramedic appear to be on duty at the time.
The footage shows the pair arguing before the paramedic turns violent and grabs the nurse by her hair, slams her against a door and appears to shout in her face.
When he eventually lets her go, the woman appears to speak to him again and things become even nastier.
The nurse bends down to pick up two bags when the paramedic who had turned to walk away, suddenly turns on her again.
In a sickening scene, he turns around and violently kicks the nurse in the stomach, causing her to stumble backwards into a door. He shouts at her again as she is doubled over in pain from the blow.
The confrontation lasted approximately three minutes before security guards arrived to intervene, according to The Metro. The man continued to be verbally abusive until the guards restrained him.
It’s not known what caused the argument.
The unidentified man has now been suspended from duty pending an inquiry and is also likely to face criminal charges.
Prosecutor Claudio Uribe said: “We are filling out the necessary paper work to press charges”.
The video has been widely shared on social media where viewers were outraged at the shocking display of violence towards the defenceless pregnant woman.
“What the heck, someone needs to kick him in the privates with combat boots!” one horrified woman wrote.
“Very cruel. The paramedic should be sacked, so out of order, he should go to prison for life. l am so sorry for pregnant woman”, another responded.
“Paramedics are supposed to help people not hurt them. I wonder if he treats emergency patients like this and maybe it's the first time he's actually been caught. That psycho needs sacking and I hope he hasn't harmed the poor baby”.
Others speculated on whether the pair were in a relationship however this has not been confirmed.
We’re incredibly shocked by this man’s behaviour and we hope the woman and her unborn baby are OK after such a horrible ordeal.
