Figures, which were recently released by the Health and Social Care Information Centre, have shed light on pregnancy rates among teenage girls across the UK, and indicate that there has been a significant decrease in the number of teen pregnancies across the nation since records began in 1998.

According to recent research, conception to girls under the age of 18 has dropped by more than 50% over the past 15 years, with figures standing at 22.9 for every 1,000 people in the relevent age group - a figure which contrasts significantly with 47.1 per 1,000 at the end of the 1990s.

Figures have even see a 10% decrease in the space of just 12 months, with the estimated number of conceptions to girls under 16 in 2014 standing at 4,160 compared with 4,648 in 2013.

Analysing the varying rates across the UK, researchers established that Nuneaton and Bedworth have the highest rate of teen pregnancies in the country, with figures standing at 43 per 1,000 women in the age group.

Following closely behind Nuneaton and Bedworth, Stoke-on-Trent sees 42.4 per 1,000 while Tamworth stands at 42 per 1,000.

It has been established that Hart in Hampshire has the lowest rate with 5.2 per 1,000 -  an area whose rate has dropped by a staggering 79% since records began.
