While the vast majority of us would like to think we put more effort into giving than receiving at Christmas time, a recent survey reveals we may fall short on this assertion when it comes to a certain family members.

According to recently released statistics, less than half of all mothers-in-law in the UK will receive a present from their child’s partner and those that do will certainly not be lavished with expensive or extravagant gifts in celebration of the season.

The study, which surveyed more than 2,000 Britons, indicates that 21% of the women who are in fact remembered by their children-in-law on Christmas Day will receive a gift which costs approximately £20.

Considering that Christmas is all about the children in our lives, it is perhaps no surprise to learn that the younger generation are our top priority when it comes to a family’s festive planning, but various other members of our circle fall swiftly down the list as December 25th edges ever nearer.

According to the survey featured in The Telegraph, 19% will choose to omit an immediate family member or close friend from their Christmas list as they deliberate over their chosen recipients.

Have you been cut from a relative’s Christmas list in the past or are you more likely to do the cutting?!
