Our readers were left understandably shocked and upset yesterday, when we reported on the abduction of a three-year-old child from a Primark store in Newcastle, England.

 

Now, in the latest update to the story, it has been reported that two girls – aged 13 and 14 – have been charged with kidnap after the frightening incident.

 

According to reports, the child was shopping in the store with her mother when the incident occurred, on Wednesday.

 

The tot went missing at around 5pm and, after a major search, was located by police in the suburb of Gosforth, almost three miles away later that day. She was reunited with her family shortly after.

 

The teenagers accused of the child’s abduction have now been charged with kidnap as well as two counts of shoplifting. They are set to appear before North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court today.
