A family wedding meant to be a chance for everyone to get together and have a good time.

But in this case, it drove a wedge between them.

An upset Reddit user, known as Zinogirl, took to the social media site after she didn’t receive an invitation to her aunt’s wedding.

Sadly, the teen believes the reason for the non-invite is her disability.

“I have a physical disability and I need crutches but I can handle myself,” she wrote. “The invitation to our family says my parents and my brothers.”

Unfortunately, it turns out she was right to suspect the reason she was being left out.

“My dad talked to my aunt and she thought the venue isn’t friendly and comfortable for me and that’s why she didn’t invite me.”

As she goes on to say, that decision wasn’t her aunt’s to make.

“If that’s the only reason, isn’t that something I should decide? Maybe I can handle myself in that venue. Maybe my brother and dad will help me if I needed help. She excluded me because I have a disability.”

Sadly, her parents don’t seem to understand, telling her to respect her aunt’s decision.

Well, her aunt has a right to invite who she wants to invite, but surely this is wrong? People should never be excluded on the basis of a disability. How can we build a more inclusive society with this sort of attitude?
