While talking about a miscarriage is always going to be painful, it’s so important to acknowledge the impact that that baby has had on your life. This is what Autumn Safley felt when she purchased and wore her ‘rainbow baby’ T-shirt.

Beautiful – and blooming – Autumn has become an online sensation, after a photo of her proudly posing in the T-shirt went viral.

Snapped by passer-by Courtney Mixon, who has experienced her own share of heartache, Autumn is seen standing in a supermarket, her T-shirt reading ‘You’re looking at a rainbow!’ just over her bump.

Courtney admits on Facebook that she immediately knew what the words meant: “She had suffered a miscarriage and now she was carrying a beautiful rainbow baby.”

So touched was Courtney that she stopped to talk to Autumn, and the pair swapped stories of love and loss.

“I then told her it’s so taboo to talk about miscarriages and I was proud of her for wearing it,” she added.

After the photo went viral, Autumn went on to tell ABC 7 News that she bought the T-shirt after losing two babies ‘back to back’. She is now looking forward to welcoming a son.

Just as Courtney was touched by Autumn’s T-shirt, thousands of others have taken to the comment section of her post to share their own feelings.

“I love this story. God bless you,” wrote one mother, while others branded the image ‘beautiful’ and ‘awesome’.
