We couldn’t stop chuckling at this story – well in between our oohing and ahing of course! It just has to be the sweetest Valentine’s love story yet.
New Orleans denizens Kohl and Zelda recently celebrated their 22nd Valentine’s Day together, pulling out all the stops to give the occasion the gravitas it deserves: a romantic fish meal, expertly chosen wine, balloons – the works.
So far so normal right? Well, except for one tiny little detail: Kohl and Zelda are penguins. The loved-up pair live together at Audubon Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans
“While most species of penguins mate for life, there is still a divorce rate,” said Senior Aviculturist Tom Dyer. “We've seen our share of penguin heartbreak, infidelity and sometimes joyful reunion here in our colony. Kohl and Zelda, however, are spending their 22nd Valentine's Day together. They are Audubon's sweethearts.”
It’s not easy to build a strong 22 year relationship so fair play to Kohl and Zelda for making it work.
