The summer holidays can be a long few weeks, and by now you've probably run out of things to do with the kids.

They've done the camps, you've gone on holidays and they've made enough perfume with their mates in the garden to set up shop, and now they're bored (and you're broke).

Before you despair though, why not add a few books to their day to ignite their imagination and stimulate their brain.

These books are new on the shelves and are perfect for outdoor reading in the sunshine (whenever we get it obviously!)

1. World Elite Dance Academy Andre’s Showcase by Kimberly Wyatt

Quirky dance teacher’s son Andre is under a huge amount of pressure to succeed. He’s obsessed with street dance and his fashion blog, and is uniquely talented – but all eyes are on him, expect the ones that really count. His dad just doesn’t seem to get him, or care about his dreams. A powerful and passionate book about finding a way to be yourself.

This is the third book in the World Elite Dance Academy series.

2. Stanley and the Magic Lamp by Jeff Brown

Stanley Lambchop can’t believe it when he finds a genie inside a teapot – he can have anything he wants. However, everyone else also wants a turn and the wishes start to cause chaos. Stanley now has to try to put everything right before he runs out of wishes. A fun, exciting and hilarious book – younger kids will love this one!

3. Time of Blood by Robin Jarvis

Master of supernatural adventure Robin Jarvis continues his enthralling new series that began with The Power of Dark and The Devil’s Paintbox. The sinister Mister Dark is more powerful than ever and has enslaved young Verne to his will. Can Lil save her best friend before their enemy unleashes his most audacious and insane plan yet?

Even with the help of new, surprising allies – a witch, a mysterious man of many disguises and the secretive aufwaders beneath the cliff – all seems hopeless. Whitby has never been a more frightening and dangerous place to live, and the murdered dead refuse to rest in peace.  A little bit scary, this book will certainly get the heart racing.

This is the third book in The Witching Legacy fantasy series.

Available here.

4. Future Ratboy and the Quest for the Missing Thingy by Jim Smith

A laugh-out-loud unlikely superhero comedy adventure that’s perfect for fans of Tom Gates, Wimpy Kid, Captain Underpants and Jedi Academy. From the Roald Dahl Funny Prize winning author of Barry Loser, comes the third adventure of Colin Lamppost – the ordinary boy who was zapped by lightning and blasted millions of years into the future.

Blended with an old television and a rat, Colin Lamppost became: Future Ratboy.

In this new adventure, Future Ratboy sees a surprising new side to his enemy, evil Dr X, and ends up going on a journey to the centre of the earth in a bid to find the missing thingy – and the clock is against them.

This book is quirky and entertaining and the kids will love it.
