Photographer Vanessa Hicks created this beautiful photo series to highlight the unbreakable bond between military parents and their kids – by having a tea party for dads and daughters!
“Every time families move, children have to make new friends, get used to new schools and find new clubs and teams to join,” Vanessa told The Huffington Post.
“So, I wanted to document a special moment with a little girl and the one person that she looks up to the most, the one person who fights for our freedom.”
Entitled Military Tea Time Mini Sessions, the project features proud fathers enjoying a cuppa with their little girls in a beautiful, relaxed setting.
And Vanessa can totally relate to the darling duos.
She’s an army veteran herself, and her husband is a naval officer who has served for 16 years.
She even photographed him with her daughters during teatime and said that the best part of the whole project was “seeing the glow on these little girls’ faces.”
While it only features dads and daughters so far, Vanessa wants to create a new series with a theme that would appeal to boys.
She hopes that the photo series makes people see that army men and women are: ”just people as well. Parents, spouses, sons and daughters.”
