The Ambulance Wish Foundation is like Make-A-Wish, with one significant difference – it’s not for kids, it’s for adults.

The incredible organisation helps terminally ill adults realise their dying wish, and while it’s heartbreakingly sad, there is also something so beautiful about the simple requests they make.

So simple in fact, they serve to remind us what’s truly important in life.

The organisation was set up in 2006 when Kees Veldboer, then an ambulance driver, was moving a terminally ill patient to another hospital. On the trip the patient told Kees he wanted to see the Vlaardingen canal one last time, to feel the sun and wind on his face and to breathe in the scent of the water.

Since then the organisation has grown and grown, and each year they help hundreds of terminally ill people realise their final wish.
