Deborah and Shane Callandret were all set to wed on March 28th.

They were expecting their first child together, but Deborah wasn't meant to give birth to their baby girl for a month after the wedding.

But their little one had other ideas.

At 4am on her wedding day, Deborah woke up and realised her water broke. Shocked, the couple rushed to Salem Health Family Birth Center in Salem, Oregon.

There, doctors assured Deborah that she hadn't gone into labour yet. And when they found out she was supposed to get married that day, the nursing staff set about using the bit of time they had left to throw her an impromptu wedding!

People working at the hospital scrambled to get flowers, decorations and snacks, and they were able to have the wedding in Deborah's hospital room.

Apart from the change of location, the wedding went off without a hitch and the pair were delighted with the surprise celebration.

And they had something else to celebrate the next morning - their daughter was born on March 29th at 7.14am. Her name is Aponi, which means butterfly in the Blackfoot Native American language.

The child and her mum are both doing well, and they say they're humbled by all the attention and appreciate the support of family, friends and the hospital staff.

How wonderful to see their big day still went ahead, and what a story to tell their little one once she's a bit older.

You can watch the beautiful impromptu ceremony, filmed by the hospital staff, below.
