Talk about winning brownie points! This dad made his sons' day when he turned their bedroom into the inside of the Star Wars spacecraft.

David Bonney (47) from Blackpool surprised his two young Jedi, sons Dylan (9) and George (8) by creating a replica of the flight deck.

It took the dad-of-five a month to bring their sci-fi fantasies to life.

Now, the bedroom includes a Millennium Falcon-style control panel complete with flashing LED lights, buttons and levers. The panel also has USB ports and controls which hook up to the boy’s TV and X-box!

Just for the fun of it, there’s also a Darth Vader mask and lightsabre protruding from the bedroom wall.

“The bedroom needed doing up because it hadn’t been done in about eight years and I set myself a challenge to do something special for them. They absolutely love it,” said David.

The project was made that bit easier as David is a bit of a Star Wars fan himself.

“I grew up with Star Wars and I have all the films so they ended up watching them with me,” he said.

David moved the two boys into another room while he redecorated. He put the final pieces together when the boys were out for the day with their mum, Emma.

Dylan was ‘gobsmacked’ when he saw his new control centre.

“I love Star Wars because I like the way they dress the characters and the way they speak,” he said.

“I like the baddies because they are really strong at first and you never know who’s going to win. The room is definitely a lot better now – my brother think the same. It looked like someone else had come in and done it but I did know it was my dad.”

The only issue now is getting the boys to emerge from their sci-fi cocoon.

“We can’t get them out of their room now and we definitely can’t tell them to go to their room if they’ve been naughty anymore,’ admits dad.
