She may have helped deliver a tonne of babies, but nurse Megan Whaley never thought she'd deliver her own child, in her own home, all by herself!

“I just pushed as hard as I could,” she said.

With her first two children, Megan spent hours having contractions before anything happened, so she initially thought she had reason to panic.

So rather than calling for an ambulance, she called her husband who was at work.

But it wasn't long before her water broke, and the only other person in the house was Megan's three-year-old son, Deegan.

Naturally, the little boy didn't quite grasp the urgency of the situation.

"He brought me a juice box and asked if I wanted to watch Paw Patrol with me," said Megan, who also has a teen son, Jakob.

Worried about being without help, Megan called her husband again, but he wasn't even close to home. He told her to call the emergency services.

But pretty soon, Megan realised she wasn't going to be able to hang on for them.

In a bid to keep the mess to a minimum, she prepped her bathroom floor with towels.

After lots of pain and pushing, Emery finally made her way into the world.

She wrapped Emery in towels and once the 8-pound, 3-ounce newborn began crying, Deegan came back in and couldn't believe what he saw. "He was like, 'baby?'" Megan said. "He held his hands out like, 'What just happened?'"

The couple didn't know the child's gender during the pregnancy, and are thrilled to have a little girl.

"I'm worried she's going to be dramatic," Megan said. "I feel she wanted to make a dramatic entrance!"

What a story to tell your little one when she's all grown up!

SHARE if you reckon this mum is pretty cool and collected.
