The birth of any child is a joyous and miraculous occasion.
But for Hope and Hunter Madden, welcoming their baby girl into the world was about as emotional as it gets.
A rainbow baby, the Maddens had suffered through miscarriage and infertility. Making the joy on the new fathers face all the more touching.
We are so glad that there was a photographer to capture that moment, because his expression is giving us the chills.
The photographer who captured the stunning moment, Leilani Rogers, wrote:
"This is a story about a mom and a dad who went through loss and persistence to get their baby.
That tattoo on his chest was done after their first miscarriage, and now his daughter lies her sweet head against it.
Both of them a reminder of triumph."
Rogers told PopSugar Moms why the birth was so emotional for all involved:
"I knew [the couple] would be overcome with joy and relief the minute their baby girl was in their arms. I was anticipating it."
Hunter, according to Rogers, was extremely affectionate and supportive throughout the birth:
"They were very connected during the birth. Dad was very affectionate towards his wife. I loved every minute I spent with them. To be in the presence of such a supportive partner and strong woman (her labour lasted 40 hours!) was such an honour."
Rogers herself, despite being a birth photographer by trade and attending literally hundreds of births, admitted that she too got overwhelmed with emotion:
"I admit that I got choked up a few times as they expressed their feelings about finally having their rainbow baby. This work is so fulfilling."
It's certainly a picture the Madden family will cherish of the rest of their lives.
