Ryan Holets was working a normal shift when he came across 35-year-old Crystal Champ doing drugs behind a convenience store.

Crystal, who had been homeless for two years, was 'seven or eight months' pregnant at the time.

She was also struggling with a drug addiction.

Shocked at what he was seeing, Ryan told the mum-to-be that she was killing her baby, and she broke down in tears.

Telling him that he had no idea what she was going through, Crystal revealed that she was looking for someone to adopt her baby.

And that's when Ryan realised that he was meant to find the 35-year-old and her boyfriend that day.

Hearing her words, the officer decided there and then to adopt Crystal's baby.

"I just felt God telling me to tell her you can do it because you can."

Three weeks later, Crystal gave birth to a little girl, and Ryan and his wife named her Hope.

Heartbreakingly, Hope suffered through withdrawals and weeks of medical care soon after she was born, according to CNN.

Thankfully, the little girl is said to be doing well now.
