We would like to clarify something: whether you do it vaginally or through C-section - giving birth is hard, right?

With that thought in mind, one amazing mum has taken to Instagram to share a picture that shows just how invasive C-sections are, emphasising that they are not the "easier option".

Olivia White is a mum, and the voice behind the parenting blog House of White, and recently shared a picture of herself, post C-section.

The picture is accompanied by a long and honest post about the realities of bringing a child into the world via C-section: "Look, I know it might not be my best angle (or is it?), but who wouldn't take selfies hours post-birth so they can see where they sliced you open and yanked out a whole person. This is what you really look like a few hours post-C-section."

Look I know it might not be my best angle (or is it?)  but who wouldn't take selfies hours post birth so they can see where they sliced you open and yanked out a whole person  (if you couldn't tell I still couldn't see past my still inflated uterus)  This is what you really look like a few hours post c-section To anyone who thinks it's the easy way out, we'll try having a 6 inch gash in your abdomen like a gutted shark  who had the body parts of the surfer it ate retrieved! That's then sewn back together with fishing wire while it feels like your vital organs are trying to escape! I mean sure, everything is  and  till the spinal wears off! After that it's like you've been hit by a bus  which then backed over you just to make sure it didn't miss you the first time! If you don't time the Endone exactly before the previous lot wore off then you will most certainly know you are alive (while wishing you were dead)  and worst of all you'll feel as if you'll spend your entire life wearing nanna  knickers up around your waist because the thought of anything settling in the canyon between your gut and pubic region is the stuff nightmares are made ofAnyone who's ever had c section knows that you'll forever be dependant on your friends Nancy, Dr 90210 and Spanx because you cannot for the life of you get rise of the ditch that is left by the scar  But for all the skin tight Kookai dresses I bought while pregnant  that now make me look like I have a Kangaroo pouch - I wouldn't change it! Because if it wasn't for the ability to deliver my babies  this way they might not be here today  plus I recon getting cut from A to B sounds way worse

The mum then goes on to explain to her followers that while she did not give birth vaginally, she did not take the easy way out: "To anyone who thinks it's the easy way out, well, try having a six-inch gash in your abdomen like a gutted shark."

Then, the graphic detail comes out, and Olivia spares nobody's feelings while describing her C-section: "That's then sewn back together with fishing wire, while it feels like your vital organs are trying to escape!

"I mean, sure, everything is rainbows and lollipops until the spinal wears off! After that, it's like you've been hit by a bus, which then backed over you just to make sure it didn't miss you the first time!"

This proud mama paints the most realistic image of childbirth to her followers: "If you don't time the Endone exactly before the previous lot wore off, then you will most certainly know you are alive and, worst of all, you'll feel as if you'll spend your entire life wearing granny knickers up around your waist, because the thought of anything settling in the canyon between your gut and pubic region is the stuff nightmares are made of!"

I had a giggle as I was inboxed last time I shared one of my maternity photos saying "why do you always milk these photos, were sick of seeing them" Well I'll tell ya why, and it's not just because I stood in a murky brown creek naked with a bunch of families watching from their campsites while in a total state of anxiety about leaches It's because throughout pregnancy, I struggled to enjoy it! I struggled with the changes it made to my body! And I struggled feeling so out of control Especially in my first pregnancy where I gained over 30kg and felt like I completely lost touch with who I was and didn't like myself! I promised myself that I'd do better the second time  and while again I did struggle, I was much happier in my pregnancy with Teddy, I kept more active and ate better and I actually felt that glow & beautiful  And it was the first stepping stone for me in accepting my new role as a mother and the physical changes that came along with it And well of course not to mention my gal pal @sleepinggrace is one amazing photographer  So yeah, I will keep milking these photos and if you don't then you don't have to be here  #simplessss

The picture is a throwback, as her baby is now over a year old; but the message remains the same: mums are superheroes.

The post has been liked over 2,200 times since it was uploaded last week, with hundreds of people commenting in support of Olivia and her message.

The mum-of-two wrapped up her lengthy post with a heartwarming message: "But for all the skintight dresses I bought while pregnant that now make me look like I have a kangaroo pouch, I wouldn't change it!

"Because if it wasn't for the ability to deliver my babies this way, they might not be here today - plus, I reckon getting cut from A to B sounds way worse."

We could not agree more.
