A toddler is currently in a critical condition in hospital following a road traffic accident on the A12 in Suffolk earlier today.
According to police reports, the two-car collision took place at approximately 1.45 pm between Tesco and BT roundabouts in Martlesham.
Commenting on the devastating incident, a spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust confirmed that the child had been transported to Ipswich hospital after being treated at the scene by emergency medics.
Speaking to the media, a spokeswoman for the Suffolk police said: "The child – thought to be aged between one and two years old - was taken to hospital by road ambulance."
Appealing to the public in the wake of this afternoon's incident, Suffolk police have urged anyone with any information to contact Suffolk police on 101 before quoting CAD number 187.
