You’d be forgiven for thinking that Santa Clause dropped a load from his sleigh on Christmas Eve, to look at the latest photos of Langeoog Island.
Families living on the island, which is situated in the North Sea, got quite the shock this week when they found thousands of Kinder Egg toys washed up on the beach.
German authorities took to social media to share fascinating photos from the island, which has been taken over by a host of multi-coloured treasures following a major storm.

As pretty as the scene may look, these plastic toys are very dangerous for the environment, and a major clean-up is now taking place on the island.
Families have set out with buckets and bags, collecting the toys so as to protect the local flora and fauna.

Instruction leaflets included in the toy capsules read in Russian, which has led authorities to believe the toys were part of a lost cargo being carried by a ship to the port of Bremerhaven.
It looks like the locals are having a lot of fun while taking care of their environment. Kudos!
