According to an emerging Sky News report, police in Lancashire and Cheshire have issued a warning to the public regarding the use of Santander cash machines in both Lancashire and the Wimslow area of Manchester.

The concerns and follow-up warning come in the wake of reports which confirm that suspicious devices have been spotted on numerous machines across these areas.

Taking to social media to raise awareness of the matter, Lancashire Police wrote: "Security at Santander ATMs in Lancs has been compromised. Advice is not to use them. If you have lost money please contact the bank and 101."

Echoing these sentiments online, Cheshire police tweeted: "Cheshire Police have received reports of issues with Santander ATM's in Wilmslow. Please do not use the machines and call your bank and 101."

Commenting on the matter and its potential implications, a spokesperson for  Lancashire Police said: "We are advising the public to be vigilant, in particular of Santander machines, but of any cash machines."

Reminding the public to exercise caution when using ATMs, he continued: "Report anything suspicious, have a visual check of the cashpoint and if in doubt leave it and go somewhere else."

Unfortunately, authorities do not believe the issue is confined to the aforementioned areas, with the spokesperson concluding: "It's spread across the whole of Lancashire so it's highly likely other forces may have had reports. We do not know how many are affected."
