Police have issued a warning to parents and young people living in the Greater Manchester area, after a teenage girl was recently approached by the same man who tried to force her into a car last year.

The 16-year-old told police that she was stopped and asked for directions from a man in a car last June. He proceeded to grab her and attempt to drag her into the car at the time; luckily, she managed to escape.

On Monday, April 18, the teen was walking along Errwood Road in Burnage, Greater Manchester, when she spotted a dark-green car stopped close by. One of two men inside asked the teen for directions, and the girl immediately recognised him as the person who tried to abduct her 10 months previous.

The teen immediately walked away from the vehicle and proceeded to report both incidents to the police.

Now, local authorities believe that this man may be linked to other suspicious incidents involving children in the area over the past six months.

A spokesman told the Manchester Evening News: “It is believed that this man may have approached a number of other children in the area over the last six months, so we are asking for anyone who may have been approached by this man to come forward.”

Police have also warned people living in the area to be on their guard.

The driver is described as an Asian man aged between 30 and 40, 5ft 8in in height and of stocky build, with short black hair. The passenger, meanwhile, is also Asian and of large build; he is believed to be aged 35 to 45, with a rounded face.

Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with the police on 101. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
