Social media is given the public a special insight into one of the rarest dens.

Chester Zoo has spoilt its followers with updates of a baby sun bear.

The unnamed bear was born back in June and the new addition can be seen snuggling up close with mum.

Yesterday the Zoo uploaded the gorgeous video of the two-month-old.

It's a particular treat as this baby cub is the first sun bear to be born in the UK.

The gender of the cub is still unknown, but their mum Milli is embracing motherhood.

“It’s a learning curve for Milli, but she’s doing everything right,” Chester Zoo wrote on Facebook.

“She’s positioning the cub so it can feed properly and using her characteristically long tongue to keep her infant clean.”

The new addition for parents, Milli and Toni, is truly remarkable.

Milli and Toni's journey has been tough.

The two bears were rescued as cubs from an illegal wildlife trade.

They were both nursed back to health in Cambodia before becoming residents in Chester Zoo.

Tim Rowlands, curator of mammals, said in light of the momentous birth:

“Chester Zoo was specially selected to work with Milli and Toni and continue their care… It’s simply fantastic that we’ve been able to help them come this far and have a cub together.”

Earlier videos uploaded by the Zoo shows the scale of how tiny the cub was when it made its arrival into the world.

Sun bears are the smallest species of bear and are commonly nicknamed the 'honey bear'.

The birth of this little cub is truly significant for the world.

The species are classified as vunerable on the IUCN Red List.

Deforestation in Southeast Asia over the last three decades has dramatically reduced suitable habitat for the sun bear.

We cannot wait to find out the cub's gender and name.
