This mum's parenting observations are SPOT on!
Sometimes when we flick through Instagram or Facebook and see perfect family photos we can’t help but roll our eyes a little. Okay, the photos are gorgeous, but how come the kids in these pics are all wearing white with ne’er a stain to be found, and why do the family meals look like something from a food spread in Vogue?
We wouldn’t change our own family for the world, but when we look at our kids, covered in paint and food stains, or the dinner of mashed potatoes, beans and chicken nuggets because we’re too tired to put together anything else, we can’t help but wonder how on earth the people posting these photos pull it off.
So, when we came across the altogether more realistic Instagram account Average Parent Problems, we knew we had found our parenting spiritual home.
Mum-of-two Ilana Wiles, who also blogs at Mommy Shorts, created the account to show the (often hilarious) reality of parenting – and we love her for it.
Absolutely BRILLIANT. What a hilarious, affectionate, relatable depiction of family life. You can keep your white stain-free dressing gowns and Michelin-starred family meals. This is what having kids is all about!
