You have probably heard of the almost magical properties of antioxidants and it’s important that you try to fit in as many of these wonder foods into your families diet as possible.
Here are five of the best antioxidant rich foods:
- Pecans: Toss them in a salad, crush them on salmon or just offer them to kids to munch on.
- Beans: Pinto, red, and kidney beans are all rich in antioxidants. For a super healthy meal, pop a three bean salad in your child’s lunchbox or make a bean chilli for dinner.
- Berries: Berries are not only delicious but rich in antioxidants. Blueberries, goji, cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries are all packed full of antioxidants. Pop some in a blender with some low-fat yoghurt for a delicious smoothie or add some to breakfast cereals.
- Tomatoes: This delicious fruit is packed full of a powerful anticancer agent called lycopene. Start including more tomatoes in your child’s diet in the form of sliced, whole, canned, stewed or sauced tomatoes.
- Apples: An apple a day really will keep the doctor away. Apples make an ideal snack as they deliver vitamins and antioxidants to keep your child healthy. Red apples contain the highest amount of antioxidants.
