When Sophie Aldridge gave birth to her son Thomas, it came as a big shock. Believe it or not, Sophie didn’t know she was pregnant in the first place.

The 20-year-old was rushed to hospital last November after she woke up early in the morning with crippling back pains.

For the few months previous to giving birth Thomas, Sophie had experienced the odd back pain which she just attributed to period cramps.

“My period was due that day so I assumed that was why I was having such bad pains. I know it might sound really stupid to some people, but I literally had no idea I was pregnant - I didn’t have any symptoms.”

Sophie from Kent, U.K. had no idea she was expecting as she remained a size 10 throughout her pregnancy, never experienced morning sickness and even had regular periods while she was unknowingly carrying Thomas.

Sophie was discharged the first time by doctors as they weren't sure what exactly was the cause of her back pains.

However, she was sent in the next day by her mum after Sophie’s condition worsened.

Doctors were in shock when they the discovered that Sophie was actually going into labour after the 20-year-old had discovered that her waters had broken.

“Everything was just so quick I didn’t really have time to gauge what was happening. I was only in labour for 30 minutes.”

Even though Sophie was originally in shock at becoming a mother, Sophie said she can’t imagine her life without her little boy.

“When I gave birth I didn’t even have a nappy to my name, let alone, clothes or a pram or cot. When I came home from hospital my friends and family had come together and donated nearly everything me and Thomas needed, which was so kind. In a way, I’m so glad it all happened - I wouldn’t change Thomas for the world now. I like to call him my little miracle.”
