Modern medicine is truly amazing, and after watching the meeting of Nancy Millar and Patrick Hardison, we can’t help but marvel at how lucky we are today.

Nancy was left devastated last year when her beloved son, 26-year-old David Rodebaugh, died in a bicycle accident.

David passed away from head injuries sustained in the accident, and Nancy fulfilled his wish to be an organ donor.

Three families’ lives were touched and changed forever, when their loved ones received David’s organs – but there was another, incredible chapter to this story.

Pat Hardison lost his face when, as a volunteer firefighter, he ran into a building in a bid to save other lives. The ceiling collapsed on top of him, and he lost his scalp and ears as well as other parts of his face.

A surgeon had an idea, though; he wanted to give Pat a transplant – and he approached Nancy, to see if she would agree to use her beloved David’s own face for the procedure.

According to ABC News, Nancy said ‘of course’, and gave Pat and his surgeon her blessing as they headed in for the ground-breaking procedure.

The operation was a total success, and camera crews recently captured Nancy’s first meeting with Pat. As you can imagine, it was an emotionally-charged affair for all involved.

“You are beautiful,” Nancy is seen telling Pat, who informs her that he now bears David’s childhood chickenpox scar on his forehead.

This is one of the most incredible things we have ever witnessed.
