As you gather up information from parenting sources or family and friends in preparation for your impending arrival, you might not have noticed that your pregnancy is actually helping you get ready as well!

So put that book down and have a read of the following five ways you've been getting ready since you found out you were expecting:

The sleepless nights

If you have been struggling to get some shut-eye in the evening, instead of worrying about it, keep in mind that it will go a long way in helping you prepare for the sleepless nights that go hand-in-hand with a new baby.

The gross things

The mucous plug, the leaking, the having someone constantly check you down there means you are well used to dealing with anything gross. And when baby arrives you will definitely be dealing with a lot of icky things: dirty, projectile nappies and baby sick!

The emotions

Pregnancy is a rollercoaster of emotions: from crying one minute to being in hysterical laughter the next, it can feel like you are losing your mind at times. And while you might think it’s a bad thing, by the time baby arrives you’ll be well used to crying at inappropriate times! When baby smiles, holds your hand, stands or starts walking - every milestone will have you in floods of tears!

The need to take care of someone else

As soon as you find out you are pregnant, you realise that’s it not just you who you have to take care of now! From eating right to going out of your way to ensure no one bumps your belly, the need to take care of another person starts and continues from the moment you conceive.

The struggle to stick to a normal routine

You’re body is now the dictator of your schedule: one day you might wake up feeling full of energy and ready to take on the world and other days you’ll feel so shattered you’ll cancel your plans just to spend the day in bed! Handy though because when baby arrives, for the first few weeks at least, you’ll be working off their schedule not yours!
