There are plenty of crib options you can consider. However, the good news is that for at least the first few months, your baby probably won’t need to be in a crib, or even in his or her nursery. Most parents choose to have newborns ‘co-sleep’ with them. That means sharing the bedroom with mom and dad. For that purpose, a Moses basket or bassinet is more than adequate, and will take up very little room at all. There are even bassinets on the market that are not free standing at all, but attach to the side of your own bed.

When the time does come for baby to move into his or her own room, there are a few options you could consider. One is an oval shaped crib, that takes up less floor space, but still allows plenty of room for your growing baby, and the other is to have a custom unit designed and built for the room. This could include a crib, a compactum and a changing table, for example, and could be made to fit the shape and size of the room. That should leave enough floor space to move comfortably in your tiny nursery!
