Having a baby is a joyous occasion and one that nobody wants to miss out on! From concerned relatives to sweet nurses, you’ll no doubt meet at least one or two of the following ten people as soon as your little one arrives - usually before you’ve even left the hospital!
1. The no-nonsense doctor
They’ll answer your questions no problem, but there’s no hanging around with the no-nonsense doctor – they’ll be moving off to the next patient fairly swiftly!
2. The sweet midwife
Even though she has other new mums to take care, this midwife will never make you feel hurried or rushed!
3. The weak stomachers
These people don’t want to talk about the birth or why your baby has a little gooey stuff on their head – they just want to see how you’re doing and get out of there as quick as possible!
4. The terrified friends
Whether you are the first or the last of your friends to have a baby, there will always be one friend who is literally terrified by the prospect of holding a teeny, tiny infant!
5. The visitors who ask extremely personal questions
Did you have a vaginal birth? Did you go natural? Did you vomit? Was there a lot of blood? And any other intimate details that you don’t want to think about never mind tell others!
6. The giddy relatives
Whether it’s your own mother or a sibling there will be a few relatives who will be literally giddy with the joy of welcoming a tiny tot into the family.
7. The well experienced
These parents will come up to you with plenty of advice – some wanted, some not – and make sure you know just how much your life is going to change!
8. The visitors who never leave
They don’t quite understand the whole sleep when baby’s sleeping notion – even though you’ve been more or less awake since the day before!
9. The visitors who come bearing gifts
There is usually a balloon or three and plenty of your favourite flowers!
10. The one who understands
They’ll text to see if it’s ok to pop by and will bring new pyjamas and magazines for you!
