There is no denying that being pregnant is amazing; the body’s ability to grow an entire human being while you get on with everyday activities is pretty impressive, it has to be said!
But (there’s always a 'but' in these kind of lists...) there is a lot more to it than simply waiting for your baby to pop out in nine months!
In fact, there are a lot of things that happen during pregnancy that you will totally be able to relate to.
1. Swollen feet
Your feet were always guaranteed to not put on weight, until now that is!
2. Intense heartburn
Seriously, the heartburn can be incredibly intense and painful - milk and peppermint tea all the way.
3. Feeling sick as soon as you wake up
Unless you’ve had a bad curry the night before, feeling sick in the morning is usually kept for expectant mums!
4. Not being able to fit into your clothes
The trousers that were perfect on you last week now don’t close and the shirt you wear to work all the time keeps popping open - YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!
5. Smelling the worst smells possible. Every. Single. Day
Expectant mums have a heightened sense of smell which is the body’s way of protecting you from eating dangerous food. And while some of the smells can be you pleasant there are a few nasty ones out there!
6. Skin changes
The only time your skin ever changed colour was after a two week sun break, but it’s winter and you are still struggling to match your foundation to your neck...
7. All the blood
And no we don’t mean while you are giving birth; your blood flow increases during pregnancy and you are likely to experience more nose and gum bleeds than ever before.
8. Feeling conflicting emotions at the same time
Happy, sad, frightened, anxious, terrified and excited – all emotions felt by expectant mums before they’ve even had their breakfast.
9. Hot flushes
Even if it’s -10° outside you will still be feeling the heat!
10. Needing to pee. All. The. Time.
Waking up to go to the toilet every two hours has become part of your bedtime routine.
