Lovely blog piece from Vanessa Lachey on baby blues
12/03/2013 09:26
This is a really lovely blog piece from Vanessa Lachey on the baby blues. When the first two weeks at home with her son Camden had passed, and all the visitors had come and gone, Vanessa describes how she was finding it hard to cope…
"On Saturday September 29th, my baby blues finally got the best of me. I was in my maternity leggings, un-showered with throw up on my shirt, hives ALL over my body (another lovely post pregnancy perk I got) and a sweet, loving little boy who couldn't look at me and smile to make it all better. He was just too young. I started crying. I was feeding Camden and crying my eyes out. I felt like I had officially come undone. I imagined blissful days, tired nights, but quiet loving moments. I imagined family dinners with the 12 casseroles I prepared ahead of time, and a beautiful post-pregnancy glow that embodied me 24-7. But This was none of that. I didn’t feel like myself. Where was the super woman who always thought and knew she could do it all? Where was the organized Vanessa who had it all under control no matter what the obstacle? She was gone, and I thought... forever.
As I was crying, Nick took Camden, I got in my car, took a drive around the block, put my sunroof down and blared the radio. One Republic was on, Feel Again. I had never heard the song at the time, but loved how it made me feel. I went to Starbucks, came home, took a shower, put myself together and came upstairs to give my husband a kiss and tell him I was sorry…I was sorry for the weeks of losing myself. I was sorry for the weeks to come when I won't be myself, and I am sorry I can't do it ALL like I thought I could. And it made me feel so much better.
For me, it was taking a minute to step away from the situation and truly appreciate the miracle of life and the blessing we have. We need to know that it's okay if we don't have that perfect post-pregnancy glow and the body to go with it that we thought we'd have. It's okay that sometimes our milk production is challenged and we aren't producing as much as we dreamed we would. It's okay if we can't do it ALL because…. we have already done so much!"

We love Vanessa’s honesty and know many mums out there have had a very similar experience.

Pink stops concert to comfort crying girl in audience
21/03/2013 15:08
We always knew Pink was seriously cool, and now we have ANOTHER reason to love her! While performing in Philadelphia, Pink stopped her own concert when she saw one of her young fans crying.
The singers’ motherly instincts took over when she stopped while singing her hit “Who Knew” to comfort a small girl who was crying in the audience.
She told her guitarist to “hold on a second” and asked the crowd “is everything OK right here? Is this little girl all right?”. There was a response saying people in the crowd were fighting, which scared the little girl. Pink then asked “Y'all are fighting around a little girl?”. She then offered the girl a toy frog and Rice Crispy treat to make her feel better.

How does Fergie combat morning sickness?
22/03/2013 09:47
Fergie, who announced she is expecting her first baby with husband Josh Duhamel last month, has revealed how she combated her morning sickness – acupuncture. She also said that she has been taking Chinese herbs and drinking lots of water.
“I’m feeling great” the singer said in an interview on Good Morning America. “I had a little bit [of morning sickness] at the beginning. But very little.”
Fergie also revealed she isn’t very prepared for the arrival of her baby. “I have no idea what I’m doing! I’m just going to play it by ear and see how things go, and let the natural instincts kick in.”
Any tips for Fergie on how to prepare for the arrival of her baby? What about morning sickness…do you have any tips on how to combat it?

Drew Barrymore says mums can't have it all
11/04/2013 15:08
Drew Barrymore feels that women can’t have it all and something has to give once you have kids.
“It sucks when you’ve worked really hard for certain things and you have to give them up because you know that you’re going to miss out on your child’s upbringing, or you realise that your relationship has suffered.”
The actress has had to give up her passion for directing since having her baby girl Olive 6 months ago.
“I can’t direct right now because I would miss out on my daughter. It was heartbreaking to let it go, but it was a clear choice,” Barrymore explains.
“I was raised in that generation where it was all, 'Women can have it all!', and I don’t think you can. I think some things fall off the table. The good news is, what does stay on the table becomes much more in focus and much more important.”
“I feel guilty all the time — but you combat it by being a superhero,” says Barrymore. “When you go out there in the world you have to remember, ‘I’m doing the best I can, I’m doing it for them, and I’m going to be there for them too. I’m just going to figure out the balance.’”
Do you agree with Drew?

Ellen and Portia don't want children
15/04/2013 10:06
Portia de Rossi has revealed that she and wife Ellen DeGeneres do not want children.
Portia, 40, told Out Magazine “There comes some pressure in your mid-30s, and you think, 'Am I going to have kids so I don’t miss out on something that other people really seem to love?'” Portia said. “'Or is it that I really genuinely want to do this with my whole heart?' I didn’t feel that my response was ‘yes’ to the latter.”
“You have to really want to have kids and neither of us did,” she continued. “So it’s just going to be me and Ellen and no babies – but we’re the best of friends and married life is blissful, it really is. I’ve never been happier than I am right now.”
Ellen, 54, has also opened up about this in her 2011 book ‘Seriously…I’m Kidding’, saying “People are constantly asking Portia and me if we are going to have children. We thought about it. We love to be around children after they’ve been fed and bathed. But we ultimately decided that we don’t want children of our own. There is far too much glass in our house.”

Isla Fisher doesn't allow scales in her house
19/04/2013 09:42
Isla Fisher reveals in the May issue of Fitness Magazine that she doesn’t own a scale to weigh herself as she feels it’s sending the wrong message to her kids.
“For me, so much about life is acceptance. You can look in the mirror and find a million things wrong with yourself. Or, you can look in the mirror and think, ‘I feel good, I have my health, and I’m so blessed.’ That’s the way I choose to look at it. I don’t need to be perfect”
The mother of two girls, Olive who is 5 and Elula who is 2, continues to say “I don’t even own a scale. I have two young daughters and I wouldn’t want them to see me weighing myself all the time. I don’t think it sends the right message.”
Do you own scales? Would it bother you if your children saw you weigh yourself?

Reese Witherspoon arrested!
22/04/2013 10:21
Hollywood actress and American sweetheart Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth were arrested after he was pulled over for drink-driving.
Jim and Reese were in jail for a brief time and were released on bail. Jim was spotted by a police officer driving in the wrong lane on Friday morning. Jim reportedly had a blood alcohol reading of .139, well above the legal limit of 0.08.
The officer reported that “Mrs. Witherspoon began to hang out the window and say that she did not believe that I was a real police officer.” She would not obey the officer’s instructions and the officer claims “Mrs. Witherspoon asked, “Do you know my name?” I answered, “No, I don’t need to know your name.” I then added, “right now.” Mrs. Witherspoon stated, “You’re about to find out who I am.”’
Reese continued to say “You are going to be on national news” and she was then arrested for “disorderly conduct (obstruction)”
We have always been fans of Reese Witherspoon and were really surprised to hear this story.
She has since released a statement apologising for her behaviour stating:
"Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that was no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I am very sorry for my behavior."

Shakira on motherhood “nobody told me it would be this hard”
25/04/2013 10:08
Shakira gave birth to her first child back in January, and now three months in, she admits that it hasn’t been easy.
In an interview with Us Weekly, the singer says ““I didn’t expect babies to need so many diapers! Nobody told me they needed to be changed so often!” she joked. “I mean he’s a great, great baby. He’s an easy one, I think. But nobody told me it would be this hard. It takes a lot of energy from you. But I love it, I’m really enjoying every bit of it. It’s just that it’s not as idyllic as everybody tells you”
The 36 year old star says she is very lucky that her boyfriend, footballer Gerard Pique, is so hands on with their son Milan.
“Thank God the father is very involved. He has been amazing,” she said.
“The baby spends as much time with me as he does with his dad. He’s the kind of dad who’s full hands on. He changes diapers, he bathes him, he enjoys playing with the baby, he enjoys feeding him, all of that stuff. So that’s great help for me, you know. I can’t imagine doing all of this and not having the father do his part of the job. So that’s a huge help to me.”
We really admire Shakira for being so honest about her experience as a mother. Were you surprised at how much work was involved when you had your first baby?

Gwyneth Paltrow criticised over children's bikinis
25/04/2013 15:46
Gwyneth Paltrow has endorsed a range of bikinis for girls as young as 4 on her website. The actress has been accused of sexualising children by selling the Melissa Odabash bikinis exclusively on her site Goop, with many people claiming the bikinis are inapproriate for young girls.
The halterneck swimsuit is covered in ruffles, appears in both black and navy, and comes in sizes for girls ages 4, 6 and 8.
A spokesman for Miss Paltrow said the criticism is ‘absurd’ adding ‘Two-piece bathing suits have been worn by young girls for decades.’
Do you think people are being too sensitive? Or are these two piece swimsuits inappropriate for young girls?

Mariah Carey shuts down Disneyland
01/05/2013 17:22
Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon had Disneyland shut down to renew their wedding vows for their 5th anniversary.
Mariah and Nick have already said ‘I do’ 4 times (last year they renewed their vows on top of the Eiffel Tower).
The 43 year old singer transformed herself and daughter Monroe into princesses for the event.
She arrived to the Magic Kingdom castle in a horse-draw pumpkin-shaped carriage drawn by two white horses.
Is this over-the-top or fabulously glamorous?
