The grief-stricken family of a teenage girl whose body was found in a wooded area of Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire at the beginning of the week have been overwhelmed by support from the teen's friends and neighbours.

Paige Doherty went missing on Saturday morning while on her way to work at a hairdressers in Kirkintilloch sparking a search which tragically ended when police confirmed that the body found on Monday was that of the 15-year-old girl.

Desperate to offer financial support to Paige's family in the wake of their daughter's untimely demise, friends initiated two crowdfunding campaigns which have experienced huge success in recent days.

Commenting on the money raised thus far, the Help Find Paige Facebook page said: "Woke up this morning to almost £10,000 between the two GoFundMe pages set up by Lynsay and Gail. All that donated by strangers... every one of you guys are absolutely amazing."

Commenting on the investigation into Paige's death, Detective Superintendent Duncan Sloan said: "We are at the very early stages of this investigation, however I am appealing to anyone who may have any information whatsoever about her movements from when she was last seen in the early hours of Saturday morning to when her body was recovered at lunchtime on Monday."

Heartbroken by her daughter's death - a teen who was described as "a young, friendly girl with plenty of friends" - Paige's mum, Pamela Munre, told Facebook users: "We are absolutely devastated, as will many people who know her will be."

Police are currently trying to piece together the teen's final moments and are urging the public to come forward with any information they may have.
