Police in London have today appealed to the public for their help in identifying a moped driver who collided yesterday with a mother pushing a pram, and failed to stop.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the East Ham area of London, as the mother was trying to cross Lonsdale Avenue with the pram, containing her nine-month-old child.
It was at this time that the moped came along in the same direction and struck the mother and the pram, turning it over. The driver of the vehicle did not stop, and police claim that the very same moped had been seen doing wheelies and driving at speed shortly before the accident.
An ambulance arrived on the scene shortly after, and the baby was rushed to hospital for treatment. The tot’s injuries are not said to be life-threatening, while the mother also suffered minor injuries.
Police are now looking for any witnesses who might be able to assist them with their investigation to come forward. You can do so by calling the Chadwell Heath station on 020 8597 4874, or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
We are thinking of the mother and her child at this time.
