These chicken sausages are a wonderful tasty finger food ideal for young children, and have been especially created for babies between 9 and 12 months who are being introduced to solids
½ small onion, peeled and finely diced
1 small carrot, peeled and roughly chopped
1 small potato (about 200g) peeled and diced
1 lean skinless chicken breast (about 200g) roughly chopped
25g frozen peas
1tbsp parsley, finely chopped
50g gruyere or cheddar cheese, finely grated
1tbsp vegetable oil
150g fine fresh white breadcrumbs
Place the onion, carrot, potato and chicken into a steamer and blender jug. Pour 150ml water into the boiler unit and steam for 15 minutes
Add frozen peas to the jug and 50ml water to the boiler unit and steam for a further 5 minutes
Turn the jug to the blending position and blitz 1-2 times until coarsely pureed.
Transfer to a bowl and stir in chopped parsley, grated Gruyere or Cheddar cheese and 50g white breadcrumbs
Divide the mixture into 12 equal sized portions and shape into 12 sausage shapes. Spread the remaining white breadcrumbs onto a flat plate and roll the sausages in the breadcrumbs to coat
Heat vegetable oil in a large shallow frying pan and fry the sausages for 8-10 mins turning frequently until golden brown. Or cook in a preheated oven 200ºC/ fan oven 180ºC/gas mark 6 for 18-20 minutes until crisp and golden brown
