Virgin Trains' latest announcement will signal very welcome news for pregnant women availing of the company's West Coast Main Line.
According to numerous media reports, the company will be launching a scheme which will guarantee all pregnant women a seat on board services travelling between London, North Wales, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
It is understood that expectant mothers will be able to obtain a special pass which they can produce and display to train staff if travelling on a train which appears to only have standing room.
It has also been established that should occasion occur where a standard seat cannot be provided, the pregnant woman will be given one in first class.
Commenting on the new scheme, customer experience strategy manager at Virgin Trains, Anita Brown, said: "We’re always striving to make sure our customers have the most enjoyable journey possible."
Acknowledging the difficulties which can arise on public transport while travelling as a pregnant woman, Anita continued: "With our new mums-to-be pass, our pregnant customers can feel confident that we will get them a seat when they travel with us."
