What is a lip plumper and how do they work?

Lip-plumping products are a less expensive and pain-free option when compared to injections. These lip cosmetics stimulate the lips, providing temporary results.

How do they work?

Lipstick, lip gloss, and lip balms that promise plump, full lips usually contain a mild skin irritant. Ingredients such as cinnamon, wintergreen, and capsaicin will mildly aggravate the sensitive skin on your lips, causing them to get inflamed and puff up. Some formulas use caffeine, which encourages blood vessels in the lips to dilate and thus results in fuller lips.

Are they safe to use?
Lip plumpers are perfectly safe however, be sure to read the package carefully before applying any lip product. Since lip plumpers use uncommon food-based additives to create fuller lips, the plumper may contain something that causes a food allergy reaction.
