Grilled balsamic steak and asparagus

 Grilled balsamic steak and asparagus
A simple marinade of pureed dried figs and balsamic vinaigrette adds intense flavours to this delicious meal. 
 

3 tbsp balsamic vinegar

1 tbsp olive oil

½ tsp pepper

2 dried figs, stems trimmed, chopped

340g stir fry sirloin steak

Freshly ground pepper, to taste

1 bunch asparagus, ends removed

In a food processor mix the vinegar, oil salt and pepper and figs until blended.

Place in a large sealable plastic bag with steak and turn to coat.

Marinate in the refrigerator overnight.

Preheat grill to medium.

Remove the steak from the marinade and discard marinade.

Oil the grill rack and grill the steak for 4 to 6 minutes per side for medium-rare depending on thickness.

Season with salt and pepper, cover with foil and let rest for 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, steam the asparagus until just tender and serve with the steak.
