Asparagus cheese tots

These nibbles are both easy to make and absolutely scrummy.
20 thin slices white bread, crusts removed
125g blue cheese, room temperature
200g tub cream cheese, at room temperature
1 egg, beaten
20 fresh asparagus spears
300g butter
Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper and set aside.
Remove the crusts from the bread, and flatten slightly with a rolling pin or a mug.
In a bowl, mix the blue and cream cheeses together with the egg until creamy.
Spread a thin layer of cheese mixture over each slice of bread.
Roll one asparagus spear inside each, and fasten with a skewer.
Melt the butter in a saucepan.
Roll each asparagus wrap in butter to coat evenly.
Freeze for one hour.
Preheat the oven to 200°C / 400°F / Gas mark 6.
Remove from freezer, discard skewers, and cut each wrap in half crosswise.
Bake for 25 minutes, or until lightly browned.
Turning when necessary, for even browning.
Serve warm
