Follow these tips to help your child’s speech development:
Start as soon as they are born
As soon as your little one is born you should talk to them. They may not make any form of reaction but they are absorbing a lot more than you may realise.
Talk about everything
Even as infants it is important to talk to your little one about more than the daily routine. It you catch them in a gaze follow the stare and explain to them what it is they are looking at. This will go a long way in helping them learn more words. Having a chat with your child can be one of the most effective ways to give them a head start in speech development.
Read them a book
Touch-and-feel books are great for babies under six months because their sense are a primary skill. You will also be more inclined to make up your own tale thus strengthen your bond with your little one. Reading can inspire a rich vocabulary and provide fun themes for you to discuss.
Encourage conversations
When you do say something to them try to give them a chance to respond to your voice, even if it is just goo-ga-ga. You should also respond to the sounds that they make as this will teach them how a conversation works.
Turn off the television
Back-and-forth social interaction is essential to encourage and a TV character does not respond to your youngster. When you reply to your little one's sounds, they will be encouraged to do it again.
The more words that your child is subjected to, the easier it is for them to connect the word to its meaning which will encourage them to say more.
