Police launched a search for two-year-old Ciera Cooper last Wednesday after she wandered into the dense woods of Green County, Kentucky – two miles from her home - with her two dachshunds. She was missing for 12 hours, and when one of the dogs returned home soaking wet as family and friends were searching for little Ciera, they must have feared the worst.

However, police continued to search the area through the night using helicopters and ATVs, and the next morning Ciera’s neighbour Tim Arnold spotted a child’s footprints in the sand. He followed the footprints and found the little girl on the ground.
When he tried to pick her up, her dog Daisy, who had reportedly stayed with her all night, started to growl. However Arnold said that once he told the dog that he was there to save the little girl, he was fine.

Ciera was brought to hospital and treated for minor injuries, and is said to have asked for Daisy when she was in the ambulance.

Police are still investigating the incident, and say it is possible that they could end up filing criminal charges.

We are just glad that Ciera was found, how lucky is she to have such a loyal companion?
