2 tsp cumin seeds, 1 tsp crushed finely in a mortar

10 dried curry leaves (found in Asian supermarkets) *if you cannot locate these use 1 tbsp curry powder
700ml hot vegetable stock
1 hot green finger chilli, thinly sliced
2 tbsp vegetable or sunflower oil
