Baking with your preschooler definitely requires more patience than most of us mums will ever have!
And while it can be a great way to spend a rainy afternoon, you need to be prepared for a few things that are bound to happen!
Here are ten things that are sure to occur when you and your tot decide to do some baking!
1. Something gets broken
Usually your favourite mixing bowl.
2. Something spills
Kids are clumsy and knocking over that cup of freshly whipped eggs is just inevitable.
3. You get flour in your hair
And in your preschooler’s hair, on the floor, in your sink and on your face...
4. You realise the weighing scales doesn’t work
And it’s usually after you put all the dry ingredients into the mixing bowl.
5. You make more substitutions than you’d like
No matter how organised you may think you are there is always something missing in the cupboards, and you can’t possibly disappoint your tot now – it’s just not worth it.
6. Your preschooler gets egg on their hands
And you panic that they’ll get salmonella, even though you’ve washed them at least ten times.
7. You ditch the raisins in favour of chocolate chips
You’ve gone to all this effort so you’re going to enjoy these cookies – you’ll eat extra fruit tomorrow!
8. You wonder why you decided to do this in the first place
The kitchen is a pigsty and you’ve somehow managed to get cookie dough on the ceiling – next time you’re sending them to grandma’s!
9. You regret not buying that electric mixer
Your arms feel like they’ve done ten rounds in a boxing ring and you’re not even nearly finished!
10. You realise you don’t actually like baking
Baking on your own can be quite relaxing; baking with a preschooler is incredibly stressful!
