Building a fort is a rite of passage for many children and who are we to stand in the way of our little one’s creativity. Here are seven forts that are not only easy to create, but fun too.

Classic sheet fort
Your child is probably already hiding out in their own bedroom sheet fortress right now. You can help ensure that your child has more of a secure fort area by draping a sheet over their bed and using a ruler or rope to make sure their fortress stays upright.

Twinkly light fort
Put those old fairy lights to use by decorating your little one’s house hideout, which will only make it more magical for them.

Box fort
The box is probably your child’s best friend right now and with a little creativity it can be even more fun. You can cut out a peep hole/window for your tot to see through and it can be great if your little one wants to play shop.

Igloo fort
If you have the time, energy and patience to save up dozens of liquid containers, than you could build an igloo fort for your little one. It’s far from easy and may require team effort from other mums and your little’s ones friends to help create the finished product.

Newspaper fort
Slightly easier to make and won’t require too much time, all you need is an old newspaper and some sellotape. Take two sheets of newspaper, lay them out flat and start rolling it from one corner and then secure the end with a small piece of tape. Make as many rolls as you can out of the newspaper. Next, you can start to shape triangles with your newspaper rolls. Tape or staple the ends together to form a triangle. Create as many triangle as you can and then secure the triangles to any fort shape that your child may like.

Bunk Bed Fort
If your child has a bunk bed but doesn’t share it with anyone else, it can create a great opportunity for a bottom bunk fort. It can be something as simple as draping sheets over the bottom bunk to create a magical world for your child.

Table fort
By simply throwing some old sheets over your kitchen table you can create an easy fort for your child.
