Much and all as we’d like to bond with each and every fellow mum in the school yard, it’s simply not possible to get on with everybody. I consider myself relatively easygoing (although I’m sure my children would wholeheartedly disagree) and I attempt to find a common ground with the majority of people I spend time with, but let’s face it, some people and their personalities are just...

My 13-year-old daughter went on her first official date last Saturday evening. Despite her father’s outright horror and my initial reluctance, we finally relented and allowed Rebecca to meet a boy from her class outside of the school grounds. Under the watchful eye of her older brother who was dispatched to keep an eye on his younger sister from a nearby booth, Rebecca met with her young suitor...

OK, so maybe the title is a little OTT, but while in the grips of PMS, I'd be lying if I said the thought hasn't flash through my head more than once in the course of married life. And while I try to keep my patience...

Let me preface this blog post by saying that my mother-in-law is a much-loved and hugely respected member of our family. Not only did she accept me like one of her own when I first starting dating her son, after getting engaged she was the first person after my own mum who I wanted to tell. And while I respect her in innumerable ways and felt genuine delight when I learned she'd be moving a...

When Monkey was born I was determined that he would not be afraid of water …… I have been afraid of water for as long as I can remember, not in all forms I must add. I can actually drink a glass of water and have a bath, but I have issues!! Before I was 26 I couldn’t swim, having a shower was a total trauma if the shower head was fixed, froze halfway across some stepping-stones which crossed...

Don't get me wrong - I'm on Royal Baby Watch as much as the next person. But of all the things that the Duchess of Cambridge will have to endure, I think this, for now of course, is probably the worst. I remember being pregnant with my first little one, and I was a bag of anxious nerves. I wanted my little one to arrive safe and healthy, but I was also so fearful of the unknown. I...
